Taking an AP class at Thornton Academy - It's fast becoming the norm.

Taking Advanced Placement courses at Thornton Academy gives students the gift of 40 hours of homework every week, plenty of all-nighters, enough stress to last them a lifetime. Along the way, the students experience a $94 exam fee in the spring, at least one ton of self-imposed discipline, and a heavily weighted GPA. But for these students, they wouldn't have it any other way.

Thornton Academy Boys Soccer – the 2017 playoff run ends with a 2-1 loss to Portland

PORTLAND - The Thornton Academy boys soccer team knew they were in for a tough game, but seemingly it had been that way for the last few weeks. Defense and timely goalkeeping helped them get further in the playoffs than ever before, but on Saturday, October 28, their season and historic playoff run ended with a 2-1 loss to the Portland Bulldogs.

Thornton Academy Boys Soccer - History in the making

PORTLAND - Coach Andrew Carlson watched the local weather forecasts all day and hoped the impending rain and wind would hold off and his team would be able to complete their playoff game against the No. 1 seeded team from South Portland.

A little after noon, Gary Stevens, the Director of Athletics and Student Activities, notified Carlson that their 6 p.m. kickoff time was being pushed back to 7 p.m. and their game was being moved from the natural turf field in South Portland to the artificial turf of Fitzpatrick Stadium, a pitch that resembled the turf at Thornton's Hill Stadium.

Thornton Academy Boys Soccer - A Winning Tradition Continues

SACO - By all measures, the 2017 edition of the Thornton Academy Boys Soccer team has had a successful year. Last June 12 senior boys graduated and left the program with some pretty large shoes to fill. On Saturday, October 21, the boys from TA did just that as they took to the pitch at Hill Stadium and won their first-round playoff game, 1-0, defeating the Marshwood Hawks, improving their overall record to 9-5-1.
